MYO Trove ("MYO Trove," "we," "us") is a kid-friendly player for
playlists a parent has already made with Yoto's MYO ("Make Your
Own") tools and backed up to Google Drive. This page explains what
information MYO Trove touches when you use it, and what it doesn't.
The short version
MYO Trove only reads from the Google Drive folder you connect, to
find and play your own backed-up playlists. It never uploads,
edits, or deletes anything in your Drive, and it never keeps a copy
of your audio, cover art, or track icons on our servers — every
play streams directly from your Drive. MYO Trove has no connection
to your Yoto account at all; it only ever talks to Google Drive.
Nothing you do in MYO Trove is sold or used for advertising.
What MYO Trove accesses, and why
-
Your Google Drive folder. When you connect
Drive, you sign in with Google and pick one folder using Google's
own folder picker. MYO Trove requests read-only access to your
Drive (it cannot create, edit, or delete anything there) so it
can find each playlist subfolder and stream its audio, cover art,
and track icons directly from Drive when your kid presses play.
-
Connection state, stored server-side. So you
don't have to reconnect every hour, MYO Trove's backend securely
stores a Google-issued token that lets it re-request access to
your Drive folder on your behalf, along with which folder you
picked. This is tied to your Google account's internal ID, not
your name or email address — MYO Trove never asks Google for
your email or profile information, only permission to read the
one Drive folder you chose. It does not store a copy of your
playlists' actual contents (audio, icons, or cover art); those
are fetched from Drive fresh each time they're needed.
-
A session cookie. A signed cookie in your
browser is what lets MYO Trove recognize your device as "already
connected" without asking you to sign in again every visit. It
doesn't contain your name, email, or any Google account details —
just enough to look up your connection record above.
What stays on your device only
Some settings never leave your browser at all — MYO Trove has no
server-side concept of them:
- Kid profile names and which playlists are enabled for each one
- Play history and where playback left off in each playlist
- Parent Gate on/off and difficulty settings
- Library sort order and other display preferences
These live in your browser's local storage on that one device. They
aren't sent to our servers, and switching devices or clearing your
browser data resets them.
What MYO Trove doesn't do
- No analytics or tracking scripts.
- No cookies other than the one first-party session cookie described above.
- No advertising, and no use of your Google account information for
advertising or tracking purposes, consistent with
Google's API Services User Data Policy.
- No selling or sharing of your information with third parties,
beyond what's necessary for MYO Trove to function, described
throughout this page.
Third-party services
MYO Trove relies on a few outside services to work, and your use of
MYO Trove is also subject to their own privacy practices:
- Google: sign-in and your connected Drive folder
- Vercel: hosts MYO Trove and its backend functions
- Neon: the database that stores the connection record described above
Children's privacy
MYO Trove is designed to be set up by a parent or guardian, not by a
child. Connecting Google Drive requires signing in with an adult's
own Google account, and the optional "Parent Gate" adds a math
problem in front of Settings so a young child can't change the
connection on their own. MYO Trove doesn't ask a child for their
name or any other identifying information — the kid profile names a
parent creates are stored only on that device, as described above,
never on our servers.
Your control over your information
- Disconnecting Google Drive from Settings immediately deletes
your stored connection record (token and folder choice) from MYO
Trove's server.
- You can also revoke MYO Trove's access entirely at any time
from your Google Account's third-party access settings.
- Clearing your browser's site data for MYO Trove removes
everything listed under "What stays on your device only" above.
- To request a copy of, or deletion of, the small amount of
server-side connection state described above, email
hello@launchby.ai.
